The Kraft Heinz Company Micronutrient Campaign

Established by our global head office in 2001, The Kraft Heinz Company Micronutrient Campaign enhances access to nutritional supplements that promote healthy growth and development, especially in developing countries and regions. This humanitarian, non-profit campaign is making a healthy difference in the world - one child at a time - with a focus on innovation and extending its global reach.

For more than a decade, the Micronutrient Campaign has sponsored the development and distribution of micronutrient powders that deliver essential vitamins and minerals including iron when stirred or mixed into children's foods. These nutritious, easy-to-use powders are manufactured by The Kraft Heinz Company and have proven effective in preventing and treating iron-deficiency anaemia, and other vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

In 2013, the Micronutrient Campaign launched an exciting new partnership with Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief non-profit organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger in developing nations around the world. Through employee volunteerism at meal packaging events and the donation of micronutrient powders, The Kraft Heinz Company and its employees are improving the lives of millions of children around the world.

Since then, the Micronutrient Campaign has provided micronutrient powder to fortify more than 167 million hunger relief meals. Kraft Heinz employees around the world have packaged more than 6 million of these meals.

Over the past 2 years in partnership with the Salvation Army two staff volunteer packing events have been held in New Zealand. Together they produced over 200,000 dehydrated meals. These meals were distributed to Salvation Army centres throughout New Zealand.

The packaging event is another great extension of the long-standing relationship Wattie's and The Salvation Army have together.

Rise Against Hunger organises events where people can volunteer and pack dehydrated meals for those who are in need all over the world. Rise Against Hunger and Kraft Heinz's partnership has helped improve the nutrition of more than five million people in over 74 countries, including New Zealand.

Wattie's Cans for Good is a national can 'collection, creation, education and donation' campaign run by The Salvation Army in partnership with Wattie's for New Zealand schools.

In 2017, thanks to the incredible efforts of the 229 schools and kindergartens who participated, more than 92,000 cans were donated to Salvation Army foodbanks - restocking shelves in the high demand period leading up to Christmas. Since the partnership began in 1994, nearly 1.4 million cans have been donated to food banks.

Wattie's Cans for Good goes beyond other can fundraisers, by combining the charitable collection activity with a creative competition and a set of teacher resources which are designed to engage children and teachers, in a fun, team-based giving and learning experience.
